Cancer New Moon and Roe vs. Wade
June 26, 2022
I mentioned in my last post entering Cancer Season (the Sun moving into the water sign of Cancer) was likely to bring up themes surrounding our roots, beginnings, and endings. As the moon is feminine, rules the mother and our bodies, we find ourselves directly in the complex crosshairs of the upcoming New Moon in Cancer.
Many of my fellow astrologers maintain New Moons will be felt directly after they occur, while Full Moons can be felt four or five days prior. This has not been my experience. I have felt upcoming New Moons in the same manner as Full Moons, and this New Moon dawning on Tuesday, June 28th at 7:52pm PDT is no exception.
This past Friday, the United States of America’s Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade taking away a woman’s governance over her body. Four days before the New Moon in Cancer. When something of this nature occurs, we must not only look to the sky, but we must also look to our nation’s chart. When we introduce Mundane Astrology, the study of nations, and political events in relation to them, we see how the upcoming New Moon has played into the lives of women in our country.
The New Moon occurs at 7 degrees of Cancer with the Sun and Moon aligned. This New Moon squares Jupiter in Aries, ruled by Mars the God of War. While Jupiter is a beneficial planet, he expands what he touches, and with a square in Aries to the Moon and Sun, this brings up themes – battles if you will – surrounding the feminine and our bodies. Jupiter also rules the ninth house of courts and the law.
When we examine the chart of the US, this New Moon sits right between the nation’s Sun and Venus, both in Cancer. Currently, in the chart of the US, Solar Arc Venus is squaring Secondary Progressed Uranus at 7 degrees of Pisces and Gemini, respectively. The Venus of the New Moon is also at 7 degrees Gemini, so we have Venus, the planet of love beauty, how we care for our loved ones, and embodying the feminine, aligned with our country’s Uranus, the planet of revolution, sudden abrupt change and upheaval, both squaring the Solar Arc Venus of our country, bringing a conflict of revolution around the feminine and our rights.
Both Venus and Uranus concern themselves with human rights and what is fair – Venus through Libra, Uranus through Aquarius.
Pisces, when challenged in this manner, can bring about delusion, suffering, martyrdom, and an erratic inability to see where love for all lies.
Mars the God of war, as mentioned earlier, plays a key role at this New Moon.
Mars at 25 degrees Aries is in his dominance. He is squaring Pluto in Capricorn, locking horns with power, authority, the establishment, but he is making a favorable aspect to Saturn in Aquarius, heightening awareness to humanitarian issues, the foundations to the rights of our bodies, and what is fair and just.
The Solar Arc Mars of the US’s chart is also at 25 degrees Aquarius, aligning with Saturn and the US’s natal and progressed moons, both in the late degrees of Aquarius. There will be much to say in the way of human rights at this New Moon and the ensuing months.
There is much to unpack between this New Moon and our nation’s chart, that every aspect can’t be covered. However, I will say it all goes back to the Moon, the divine feminine and our bodies.
The progressed Mercury of the US at 21 degrees Aquarius, is right now squaring the nodes of the Moon in Taurus and Scorpio. The South Node is in Scorpio, our past; Scorpio rules the genitals and reproductive organs. Again, expect a continued dialog around human rights and women’s bodies.
So how do we find our way through?
We are in the Age of Aquarius.
If you look, Aquarius is a woman, the Water Bearer, flowing the waters of knowledge, spreading throughout the lands for all to partake. That knowledge is PROGRESSION. The future, rights for all, for all our bodies. We may not like every right awarded – free speech has the ability to piss off many – but they are OUR rights. Never to be rescinded, only to be expanded through movement forward.
Many do not realize Aquarius is the age of the woman.
We will NOT be silenced.
We will lock arms with Mars, Saturn, Venus and take back the rights to our Moon – our bodies. All the while embracing the nurturing love of Cancer, for it is through LOVE, the love of women and our right to choose, our right to govern our bodies for better or for worse – that is the right that LOVE grants us.
Be well and love, Jordan
