Aftereffects of the Scorpio Lunar Eclipse
May 19, 2022
Anyone else feeling the aftereffects of the Full Moon Total Eclipse in Scorpio?
Make no mistake: It was a tough one. So much so, I have only been able to catch my breath from it, in order to post about it, a good five days later…
For reference, the Eclipse occurred this past Sunday, May 15th.
Since this time, I have heard of friends falling ill from Covid – people who had avoided it the entire pandemic. A work colleague came home to her apartment building burned to the ground. And a dear, sweet friend of mine lost her battle to cancer – but the news came as a shock, as no one had known she had declined so quickly. That’s what Eclipses can do: speed up events, forcing news out of nowhere.
So why was this Eclipse so difficult? Saturn, the planet of duties, obligations, responsibility and karma, was squaring both the Sun at 25 degrees Taurus and the Moon at 25 degrees Scorpio – Saturn is in Aquarius at 24 degrees.
We need to remember that Lunar Eclipses are the equivalent of several Full Moons rolled into one, and by nature, they are unpredictable. Eclipses remove what no longer serves us in our lives, ending situations to which, we can never return. There is no going back.
When you add Saturn to the mix, well… he is famous for testing where your foundations are weak, bringing into sharp focus what no longer serves you, or bringing a situation to head that MUST be addressed. Whilst in it, you may lack the perspective to see just how much this is serving you, or how much a particular change needed to occur, allowing you to move forward.
Lunar Eclipses may also “eclipse” a person out of your life, usually a woman (the moon is feminine) as was the case with my friend. As sorrowful as this can be, I wouldn’t have wanted her life to be prolonged in the state she was in – a shell of her bright, radiant self. I feel the swiftness with which her passing occurred was a blessing – we all got to say goodbye to her, then just over 24 hours after the Eclipse, she left our world for the next.
Another caveat to this Eclipse has been Mercury retrograde. Mercury’s retrogradation is heightened as he is retrograde in one of the signs he rules: Gemini. Gemini rules the third house of communication, and I have found that while, yes, communication has been off, it has also taken on a compulsive quality. Phone calls go on for MUCH longer, and people’s nerves from the eclipse has brought a SURGE of topics to communicate about to the fore. I feel this has a beneficial side, particularly aiding to heal topics from our past, but it has also served to act as a syphon, draining off what little energy the Eclipse has left us.
As we move farther away from the Eclipse, we should start to regulate.
If you have a natal planet at 25 or 24 degrees (plus or minus 4 degrees) in a fixed sign: Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius or Leo, keep steady, take responsibility and act to elevate and address what this Eclipse has brought.
Know you are not alone – not for a minute.
Things will be better.
Allow the dark, so you may see and embrace the light.
Be well, love well, Jordan
